1. Freedom as a free choice in Hristo Botev’s poetry       1. Свободата като избор в поезията на Христо Ботев

Thesis: In Hristo Botev’s poetry freedom is the main value that organizes and gives significance to human life – self-realizing the nationality and nation, the moral choice of each person, the nature of humanity, the meaning of life, the ways to salvation, models and examples of human behaviour. Interpretation: 1. Freedom is not overcoming external circumstances but mental maturity of the human being: - to desire freedom means to shake off apathy; - everything can happen only with taking responsible decisions  and overcoming the conflict between loyalty to freedom and loyalty to mother, father and beloved person - freedom can make life worth living  but it needs rejecting human  affection; -          Each person has to choose freedom inside. Thus we need example of a hero who provides a model of behaviour. Hristo Botev creates such heroes in his poems  Vasil Levsk and Hadzhi Dimitar Conclusion: Hristo Botev’s poetry binds freedom to the concrete tasks of the period as well as the main principles and values of human communities. Poems: „ Maytze si” (To My Mother), „Na prostavane” (At Farewell), „ Hadzhi Dimitar”, „Obesvaneto na Vasil Levski” (The Hanging of Vasil Levski)
