5.D.1.6   Ways of expressing freedom of conscience and religion

national facts

Antinuclear

The anti-nuclear movement is an international movement, which belongs to the new social movements of the late 20th Century, especially about the 1970s. It discusses the dangers of the nuclear force, which not only come from the mili-tary (e.g. nuclear weapons), but also from the peaceful use of nuclear energy for power generation in nuclear power station.

Abortion

Every child has the absolute and inviolable right to become born, whether disabled or not - there is really no reason, no value could be higher than the already existing human, with the successful conception of innocent lives.

Afganistan war

The Afghanistan war is one of the examples that represent either conscience or religious freedom. It started with a dictatorship, which fought against the citizens. Then it escalated and the Taliban, an extreme religious group that does not tolerate any other faith, mounted and ravaged the land. As in 2001, trigger-ed by the attack on Sept. 11, the USA interfered into. Still today is there war in Afghanistan. Why? Because of the faith. Because of the faith are still fought wars.

Cloning - Who decides on life?

It is highly controversial among scientists, physicians and philosophers, at what point life begins and whether one can already speak with the fertilization of an ovum by a human individual. The views of an embryo vary from a lump of undifferentiated cells to a person. Is there a right to genetic uniqueness? Who should be able to decide who shall live and who is not? Will it be able for the rich, in the future? What about the species? Endangered animals could be cloned in order to save them before the final extinction. Who will make that decision,

which species  remain and which are not? Is this a cultural decision?  Do  we sacrifice or risk the existence of our genetic not quite perfect children? Who can say what it means to the psyche of a man  which  comes only as a "copy" to the world?
