Freedom of religion and conscience

(Comparing and analyzing documents)

Aims:

-extending the knowledge, connected with the political development of the different countries;

-rationalize the role of the institutions;

 

Methods:

-comparing documents;

-grouping conclusions;

 

Didactic resources: preliminary prepared and distributed texts, notebooks.

 

Lesson plan:

 

1. Analysis of the text presumes:

-finding similarities;

-finding differences;

-formulating conclusions based on independently defined or assigned indicators;

 

2. Indicators for comparing:

-the author of the document;

-identification of the position used for the written document;

-the aspect of the documents;

-basic ideas and principles;

-influence in the country;

-connection with democratic practice;

-Does it lead in new terms?

-Does it reflect the basic activities of the time?

-publicity of the texts;

-historic memory for them from the distance of time;

-the role for progress of the democratic theory and practice;

 

3. The conclusions are based on:

-Does a succession exist between the basic ideas and principles, on which the texts are building?

- Are the texts real or utopian?

-Is there any difference between the declared intentions and the reality?

-Is there any lapses in the documents?

 

4. The documents:

 

  1. Bill about the rights – published on 15 December 1791 ( amendments  from the Constitution of USA )
  2. A Declaration for Human Rights from 26 of August 1789
  3. A Common Declaration for Human Rights ( UN – 10 December 1948)
  4. 1856 – Hatihumaun – manifesto declaring the freedom of religioun.

 

 

 

 

 

Conclusion:

-finding and interpretating  the basic ideas in the text;

-using the knowledge of the students, available and acquired for going deeper in knowledge, specifying and building of personal opinion;

-evolution of the media;
